2024 Round Up

An event-full 2024 here at Pickerings, marked by significant initiatives and community engagements. Here is a look back at some of the highlights:

January: Introducing Pickerings ‘Green Team’

In January, we introduced our qualified Carbon Literate ‘Green Team’ who have been proactively engaging all personnel involved with Pickerings through the distribution of information from top tips for personal and business, government changes and initiatives as well as details on new practices and products implemented by the company.

February: Twinned toilets at Head Office

Pickerings marked the launch of the “Twinned Toilet” at head office. A unique initiative who work with communities that are marginalised, and aften remote, and where governments fail to provide adequate water and sanitation.

March: Supported the ‘My Whole Self’ campaign for workplace culture change

In March, we supported the “My Whole Self, MHFA England's campaign” for workplace culture change. Our Mental Health First Aiders created their own “My Whole Selfie” and this was shared with the intention of empowering employees to bring their whole self to work.

April: Easter Eggs for Northampton Children’s Trust

The team at our Northampton Depot were busy collecting Easter eggs to donate to the Northampton Children's Trust. In total the Children's Trust collected and delivered 6848 Easter eggs!

May: S&A Show @ Excel London and MMC Awards

In May, Pickerings exhibited for the first time at the Schools and Academies Show at the ExCeL in London, it was great to see the passion and enthusiasm within the education industry. We also attended the MMC Awards in Birmingham after being shortlisted for the 'Best Temporary Building Project' category.

June: Supported Acorns Childrens Hospital Project

In June, we were involved in a Social Value Project at the Acorns Children’s Hospice in the Midlands in the who partnered with suppliers to fund and deliver a roof refurbishment. Pickerings donated site accommodation for the duration of the project.

July: Joe & Dan hiked a marathon for Macmillan

We saw our colleagues, Joe and Dan, complete the Peak District Mighty Hike! They both thoroughly enjoyed the walk and crossed the line in a challenging 9 hours 25 minutes. They have raised an amazing £1090 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

August 2024: Summer colouring competition

To engage with the younger community, Pickerings launched a summer colouring competition for children. The initiative encouraged creativity, with the winning logo designer receiving a £100 W H Smith voucher, perfect for back-to-school-supplies.

September 2024: Resource & Waste Management Expo

In September, Pickerings exhibited for the first time at the RWM Expo, highlighting our dedication to sustainable practices within the industry. This event served as a platform to display our portable and modular building solutions for resource management and waste reduction.

October 2024: Supporting Simply Cycling

Demonstrating a commitment to community support, Pickerings provided a high-quality, secure storage container to Simply Cycling, a charity dedicated to making cycling accessible to all. The contribution aimed to assist the organisation in safely storing equipment and expanding its outreach.

November 2024: Exhibition participation

November was a busy month for Pickerings, as they exhibited at three events; East Midlands Expo, Education Forum and the Schools and Academies Show. These exhibitions provided opportunity to showcase our latest products and services, engage with industry professionals, and explore new business opportunities.

December 2024: Exhibition participation

We saw our mischievous elves “helping” at head office, depots, and other locations throughout the year. We reflected on the year gone by, eagerly looking ahead to 2025—filled with new adventures, exciting opportunities, and continued growth! 

 

Throughout 2024, Pickerings has demonstrated a strong commitment to innovation, community engagement, and sustainability. The initiatives reflect the dedication to supporting their customers and local communities, setting a positive start for the coming year.
