Modern Slavery Statement
Pickerings Hire Limited t/a Pickerings, is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking and to conducting its business dealings ethically, and with integrity and transparency.
This statement relates to actions and activities during the financial year 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024. It also details the further steps we intend to take over the next 12 months.
Our Structure and Supply Chains
Pickerings are a privately owned supplier of relocatable modular buildings and portable cabins, including commercial offices, school classrooms, welfare facilities, secure storage, generators and related products and services. We operate from a network of depots throughout the UK, with our Head Office based in the East Midlands.
Our supply chain consists of manufacturers and suppliers of modular and portable building internal and external structures, plumbing and electrical components, paint and other consumables. We also use certain sub-contracted services to assist with delivery, installation, dismantling and collection of our buildings and site remedial works.
Modern Slavery Risk Areas
As is common across our industry, we recognise that we are at a heightened risk of exposure to modern slavery and human trafficking from our supply chain, particularly in the following areas:
- agency and temporary labour;
- sub-contractors;
- material suppliers.
However, we continually review our supply chain and consider they present a low risk of modern slavery and trafficked labour.
Additionally, we consider ourselves to be at a low risk of modern slavery and trafficked labour from within our own business due to the maintenance and stringent application of our internal policies.
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy
To reinforce Pickerings’ commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking, we maintain a Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy which details how we intend to prevent modern slavery occurring within our business and supply chain, the action we will take should modern slavery be identified and guidance for employees on how to identify and report suspicions of modern slavery.
Further steps
In the next 12 months, Pickerings intends to continue to maintain its Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy and will continue to issue it to any suppliers, contractors and sub-contractors with an expectation they act in accordance with it.
Raising awareness
As appropriate, we will raise awareness of modern slavery issues with all our employees through internal communication channels.
The statement is made pursuant to Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement for the financial year ending 30th June 2024.
